IMPORTANCE OF SOIL

Soil is likely one of the most critical elements needed for the health and strength of your bonsai. The right soil will have to supply your tree with nutrients at the same time as promoting proper drainage and water retention. It will have to also allow proper aeration to roots.

Unhealthy trees are ceaselessly planted in a poor Bonsai soil. Or worse, planted in normal garden soil, or “dirt”. Garden soil hardens easily when it gets dry, which can inhibit the growth of your bonsai. Bonsai trees do not like dirt and will most likely die if left in dirt for long periods of time.
