Contrary to popular belief‚ cacti do need water and food during the summer growing season.
Water at the same rate as other houseplants from April until the end of September – water each time the watering indicator goes red.
Feed with Seramis Liquid Plant Food (preferably red top) at half the strength indicated on the bottle otherwise your cacti might grow out of all character if fed at a higher rate.
From October until the end of March‚ keep in a cool (night temperature at a minimum of 6° C)‚ well lit place and do not water or feed at all.
Most cultivated cacti are sold in a peat based compost. When this dries out in the winter it shrinks and desiccates so that when watering starts again there are almost no air spaces and root growth is very poor.
Seramis retains the airs spaces even when dry and allows the roots of the cacti to grown naturally.
